New pickleball courts, trails, boardwalk coming to Mill Pond Park

New pickleball courts, trails, boardwalk coming to Mill Pond Park

Metropolis of Richmond plan for redesign and building contains restoring the pure woodland and wetland within the park’s centre, linking Mill Pond and Stavert Park, gallery house

Mill Pond Park, one among Richmond Hill’s vacation spot parks, is present process a redesign and building that may create new facilities, like pickleball courts and an outside skating rink, as effectively a boardwalk and extra trails.

Developed in session with the group, the estimated seven-year plan will carry enhancements that embrace:


Restoration of the pure woodland and wetland within the centre of the park, together with administration of invasive species, defending it for future generations

New facilities together with pickleball courts, an outside ice skating rink and out of doors health gear
Enhanced tennis courts, playground and gazebo
Extra parking close to Stavert Park.

“The Mill Pond Park revitalization grasp plan will enhance connectivity all through the park for residents, whereas balancing its ecological and leisure use, in line with a Metropolis of Richmond Hill information launch.”

“Mill Pond Park is an important part of our city’s heritage. It’s beloved by so many and I look forward to it being modernized with new amenities for current and future generations to enjoy. The Mill Pond Park revitalization master plan is the right mix of protecting the environment with natural area enhancements and invasive species management, combined with providing amenities and expanding the park by connecting it to Stavert Park in the north to serve the growing community. The community will be able to connect with nature throughout the park,” Mayor David West stated.

The tempo of the redesign and building of the brand new park relies on capital funding, the town acknowledged. 

Mill Pond Park is one among Richmond Hill’s 5 current vacation spot parks, together with Lake Wilcox Park, Richmond Inexperienced Park, David Dunlap Observatory Park and Phyllis Rawlinson Park.

Mill Pond Park’s historical past dates again to the mid-1800s, when it was a sawmill operation, and later transformed to a reservoir to provide native ingesting water.

The long-lasting park is host to quite a lot of out of doors concert events and occasions all year long together with Richmond Hill’s Winter Carnival.
