Authorities report that a 23-year-old man has been charged with murder following the death of another man during an unprovoked attack outside his home, located north of Toronto.
York Regional Police state they arrived at the scene of an assault on Wednesday evening in Richmond Hill, Ont., and discovered a man with severe injuries.
The injured man was transported to a hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.
According to police, the suspect was apprehended near the location and faces charges of second-degree murder.
Investigators indicate that the victim, aged 54, was outside his home when he was attacked “without provocation,” and it is believed that he did not know the suspect.
The suspect has also been charged with violating probation.
