An 11-year-old girl and a 24-year-old woman have lost their lives after suffering injuries in a fire that is thought to have been intentionally set in Richmond Hill.

Emergency services arrived at the scene of the fire near Skywood Drive and Rolling Hill Road around 3:15 a. m. on Monday.

York Regional Police reported that four individuals were found unconscious inside the house during the incident, while one victim was discovered outside.

Paramedics evaluated four adults and one youth at the location and transported them to different hospitals nearby for care.

The girl succumbed to her injuries on Sept. 2.

The woman, identified by police as Helya Bahari-Kashani, aged 24 and from Richmond Hill, passed away from her injuries on Sept. 3.

The remaining three individuals taken to hospitals are still in critical condition.
