A bank was robbed in a crowded plaza, prompting police in Ontario to search for a suspect.
York Regional Police reported that on Jan. 15 at about 2:20 p. m., officers were called to the scene of a bank robbery near Yonge Street and Elgin Mills Road in Richmond Hill.
“Upon arrival, officers learned that a male suspect entered the bank armed with a firearm and made threats before fleeing the scene with a quantity of currency,” police said.
The suspect is described as a male who stands five-foot-nine with a medium build and was dressed in a black toque, black jacket, black gloves, black pants, dark shoes, and wearing a dinosaur scarf.
“The bank is within a plaza with heavy foot traffic,” police said.
Officers are asking anyone who may have noticed something unusual or has dashcam footage from the area between 1:30 p. m. and 3 p. m. to get in touch.
