Renfrew County took a major step forward on Friday with the announcement of a Request For Proposals for the four-laning of Highway 17 west of Renfrew. County Warden Jennifer Murphy spoke as MPP Ric Bresee, Parliamentary Assistant to the Minister of Transportation, looked on. Pembroke – Recently, several dignitaries from provincial and municipal governments gathered to announce plans for twinning Highway 17 from Arnprior to Renfrew. Renfrew-Nipissing-Pembroke MPP Billy Denault and Hastings Lennox-Addington MPP Ric Bresee joined local county representatives for the announcement on Friday. During this event, they formally issued a Request for Proposals (RFP) aimed at adding two more lanes to the 22.5 km stretch of the Trans-Canada Highway. This announcement is part of Ontario’s $30 billion initiative to enhance highway infrastructure across the province. As a vital connection into the Upper Ottawa Valley, this project has been in planning since Mr. Denault’s predecessor John Yakabuski was in office.
