Buchanan, a Douglas resident, has been a forestry advisor since 1989, and a public speaker on human connections to the surroundings and sustainability in agriculture. He has been operating a regenerative farming enterprise in Renfrew County since 2001. He has been the volunteer president of the Renfrew County department of the Nationwide Farmers Union since 2018 and president of the Ottawa Valley Meals Co-op since 2019. He organized the primary Farm to Desk Dinner in 2018 and spearheaded “Farms Open”, a Renfrew County-wide agri-tourism initiative in 2022.

Buchanan, is becoming a member of the Ontario NDP crew underneath chief Marit Stiles, who has made visits to Renfrew-Nipissing-Pembroke and different rural ridings. Stiles has met with native leaders, farmers, and enterprise house owners to higher perceive the area’s challenges and strengths, together with the significance of the nuclear vitality sector and Garrison Petawawa.
