Pickering Councillor Lisa Robinson has faced her eighth sanction for violating the code of conduct.
It’s now eight penalties for the often controversial Lisa Robinson, as she received a 90-day pay cut this week due to yet another breach of the city’s code of conduct, stemming from her acceptance of over $13,000 in donations from a Gifts Send Go crowd sourcing campaign.
A month ago, Robinson was in council chambers receiving her seventh sanction for participating in a podcast that was posted on You Tube more than a year prior, where the host “exhorted the public to commit acts of violence” against members of council.
This latest penalty comes from her fundraising efforts aimed at recovering some of her salary losses- with Monday’s 90-day pay reduction, she has now lost almost $80,000 in total salary- and the funds raised exceeded what is allowed by city rules.
This marks the second time she’s been sanctioned for breaking fundraising regulations set by the city.
Robinson continually pressed Integrity Commissioner Jeff Abrams for proof that she benefited from these funds but avoided denying that she kept any money raised.
“Show me the bank transfer,” she yelled at Abrams, leading Mayor Kevin Ashe to ask if she denied having received any money. “There is no evidence I received a single dollar of this money,” she replied.

After it was pointed out that the Gift Send Go account linked directly to Robinson’s website, the Ward 1 councillor launched an attack against Ashe and other council members during her speaking time, labeling Ashe as “evil” and making unverified allegations about corruption involving him.
“I have proof, but I won’t submit it to you or the Integrity Commissioner,” she stated while claiming both were “working together” against her. “While I am sanctioned for imaginary gifts real instances of ethics go unnoticed.”
Councillor Linda Cook took issue with Robinson’s comments, pointing out that her outburst constituted yet another violation of the code of conduct. Cook also mentioned that he had responded “in the appropriate manner” to previous motions made by his colleague but emphasized he would never align himself with Councillor Robinson because doing so would suggest he condones her behavior towards this council, its members and community which he does not.
The motion to impose a 90-day financial penalty on Robinson passed unanimously.
