A young driver and two motorcyclists lost their lives in a multi-vehicle crash in the Kawartha Lakes region.
Emergency responders along with Ontario Provincial Police arrived around 6 p. m. Saturday to the deadly accident in Omemee, Ont., located just west of Peterborough.
They were sent to the intersection of Highway 7 and New Heights Road after reports came in about a serious incident involving four motorcycles and one passenger vehicle.

The driver, an 18-year-old man from Peterborough, and a 72-year-old male motorcyclist from Dunchurch were declared dead at the scene due to the crash, according to police. A second motorcycle rider, a 65-year-old man from Barrie, was airlifted to a trauma center in Toronto with severe injuries but unfortunately passed away later. Police mentioned that a 30-year-old male motorcyclist from Sudbury was initially taken to a local hospital for treatment before being transferred to a Toronto-area trauma center. The OPP’s technical collision investigation unit is on-site assisting with the investigation. If anyone has information or dashcam footage related to this incident, they are urged to contact the City of Kawartha Lakes OPP.
