A person was flown to a Toronto hospital following a shooting at an apartment building in Peterborough, Ont., on Sunday afternoon.

The Peterborough Police Service stated that around 4 p. m. emergency responders were dispatched to a location near the intersection of George Street and Parkhill Road, where they found a victim with a gunshot wound.

The individual was initially taken to Peterborough Regional Health Centre before being transferred to a hospital in Toronto.

No information about their condition has been released.

This marks the first reported shooting involving a victim this year in the city.

On Monday, investigators were seen collecting evidence at 701 George St. N.

Police believe this shooting is an isolated event.
