PETERBOROUGH-The OPP Biker Enforcement Unit (BEU), OPP Peterborough County Detachment and the Peterborough Police Service anticipate a rise within the presence of outlaw motorbike gangs (OMG) travelling via the Peterborough space this weekend, August 31, 2024, to September 2, 2024, attributable to a scheduled occasion.

Police say Outlaw motorbike gangs are amongst prison organizations whose big selection of prison exercise could cause hurt and victimization in communities throughout Ontario.

“The OPP Biker Enforcement Unit, OPP Peterborough County Detachment and the Peterborough Police Service have taken measures to maintain safety in our communities this coming Labour Day weekend. You will notice an increased police presence in the area, and we encourage you to contact the OPP Peterborough Detachment or Peterborough Police Service to report any suspicious or criminal activity.” mentioned OPP Performing Chief Superintendent Mike Stoddart, Organized Crime Enforcement Bureau

The OPP and Peterborough Police Service is advising members of the general public to anticipate there to be an outlaw motorbike gang presence round Fifes Bay Highway and Lily Lake Highway in Selwyn Township this coming weekend. There will even be an elevated police presence on this space to make sure the protection and well-being of neighborhood members.

“When we became aware that an outlaw motorcycle gang had plans to hold an event on the border with our city, we immediately contacted the OPP and BEU to initiate a coordinated response. The Peterborough Police Service is a member agency of the BEU, and we have no tolerance for criminal organizations operating in, or near, our city. Public safety is our priority.” said Peterborough Police Service, Chief Stuart Betts

The BEU is a joint-forces unit led by the OPP Organized Crime Enforcement Bureau (OCEB) and works collaboratively with different police companies and regulation enforcement companies to disrupt and dismantle organized crime teams.
