The investigation into the incident that occurred on Sunday, April 12 at Last Duel Park in Perth is still ongoing, and Lanark OPP has determined that the death is now classified as a homicide.

Authorities have also confirmed the identity of the deceased but will withhold the name until family members are informed.

On Sunday at around 3:15 p. m., officers were dispatched to Last Duel Park, where they found one individual suffering from life-threatening injuries. The victim was rushed to a trauma center but was later pronounced dead.

Police believe this was a targeted attack and report no indications of any wider threat.

The park has reopened, and there’s no longer a significant police presence in the vicinity; however, OPP continues to investigate and keep an eye on developments.

Provincial Constable Corey Noonan told Lanarkist that no arrests had been made by Wednesday morning. He did not disclose if there are any suspects or if an arrest is anticipated soon. He also stated that, contrary to online rumors, there are no minors involved in this situation that they are aware of.

This investigation is being led by the Lanark County OPP with support from the OPP Criminal Investigation Branch, along with assistance from the Office of the Chief Coroner and Ontario Forensic Pathology Service. Help is also coming from the OPP Emergency Response Team, OPP Forensic Identification Services, and the OPP East Region Regional Support Team.

Anyone who has information regarding this case should contact Lanark County OPP immediately at 1-888-310-1122. If you want to stay anonymous, reach out to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS) or visit ontariocrimestoppers. ca.

More details will be shared as they become available.
