The Ontario Provincial Police have charged a 16-year-old with murder after a teenager was killed in Perth, a small town near Ottawa.
Officers from the OPP’s Lanark County detachment arrived at the intersection of North Street North and Sherbrooke Street East in Perth just before 3:00 p. m. on Friday, October 25, 2024.
One individual was found dead, and another person was taken into custody at a nearby home, according to a statement from the OPP that did not provide further details about the incident involving the teenagers.
The teenager has been charged with second-degree murder, as reported by the OPP.
A second-degree murder charge usually applies to cases where someone is killed intentionally but without prior planning or thought.

The police have informed local residents that they will notice an increased police presence as they continue their investigation into the murder. This effort involves members of Lanark County OPP working alongside both the Lanark County Crime Unit and Forensic Identification Unit.
The Office of the Chief Coroner and Ontario Forensic Pathology Service are also involved in this inquiry.
