A significant investigation is currently taking place after six individuals were hospitalized due to a multi-vehicle accident on Highway 7.

The incident happened on Sunday at approximately 5:30 p. m. Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers from the Lanark detachment were called to the scene in Innisville, which is a small area located between Carleton Place and Perth, for a crash involving five vehicles.

Upon arrival, they discovered that six people had sustained injuries, with ages ranging from 17 to 78.

Three individuals were taken to the hospital with potentially life-threatening injuries, including one person whose condition may be critical, according to a press release from OPP. The individual in serious condition is among the older victims, as noted by OPP Constable Corey Noonan during an interview with City News.

The remaining three people received treatment at the hospital and are expected to be discharged on Monday. The police mentioned that those involved had “varying degrees of injuries.”

Highway 7 was closed until 4:00 a. m. on Monday as the investigation continued.

Noonan also mentioned that weather conditions were generally clear that day but there was some fog around dusk. He stated that the sequence of events leading to the collision began when one vehicle was waiting to turn into the Ultramar Gas Station.

“We encourage everyone to slow down,” Bill Dickson, OPP media relations officer, told City News. “There is a reduced speed limit through that area. We encourage everyone to slow down when coming off or onto the roadway.”

If anyone witnessed the crash or has relevant dashcam footage and hasn’t yet spoken with police, they are urged to contact the Lanark County OPP at 1-888-310-1122 and refer to incident E251583748.
