Three individuals have lost their lives following a head-on collision in Lanark County, located southwest of Ottawa, on Tuesday morning, according to Ontario Provincial Police.

The incident occurred just after 11 a. m. on Christie Lake Road close to Perth, Ont., between Glen Tay and Bowes Side roads.

The driver and a passenger in one vehicle were pronounced dead at the scene, as stated by OPP in a news release on Tuesday.

The driver of the other vehicle also died, while a passenger was transported to the hospital with serious injuries.

The victims have been identified by OPP on Wednesday as 40-year-old Tim Shepherd from Perth, 57-year-old Robert Bremner from Maberly in Tay Valley Township, Ont., and 73-year-old Rose Dixon from Maberly.

An investigation into what caused the crash is ongoing.

This section of Christie Lake Road was closed but has since reopened. The accident took place fewer than 10 kilometers from downtown Perth, about 20 kilometers east of Maberly and roughly 90 kilometers southwest of downtown Ottawa.
