SIGN OF A DISCONNECT

Re: Doug Ford unveils new Lake Ontario sign near Stoney Creek, online, Aug. 29

It’s disappointing that our premier would boldly spend taxpayer money on such a childish stunt and then brag about it. This shows how out of touch he is with the people of Ontario.

If he wants to throw around meaningless insults, he should do it at his own expense. And I say this as someone who identifies as a lifelong Conservative.

DENNIS FORBES
HASTINGS, ONT.

NOBODY BUT US MINIONS?

Have we really lost so many brave men and women in the “last great war” that we’ve turned into a nation of minions?

We followed both Trudeaus to nearly patriotic and economic ruin, and now another media favorite who promises paradise is leading an ineffective government.

I may dislike Trump, but he truly loves his country while we’ve been stuck in a lost decade. Wake up, Canada.

GET READY FOR BLAIS AND BANK SHOW

<p Has anyone noticed the intersection design at Blais Road and Bank Street in Findlay Creek? It might be interesting to see how they manage to plow this during our five months of winter.

This must have been thought up by the same genius who designed those green bike lane markings that get scraped away every winter just so they can be repainted in spring.

Brilliant.

DON’T GIVE UP ON US, CANADA

To our friends in Canada:

Please don’t lose hope for America. Donald Trump will hopefully be gone in about two years or sooner. We’ve been friends for hundreds of years. Together we’ve made sacrifices during war and peace. Give us a little more time before you write us off.

JOSEPH MAIO
ASHEVILLE, VA.
