The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) from the Lanark County Detachment have charged two individuals with impaired driving on August 3 after receiving reports of their behavior.

In the first incident involving an Omemee resident, OPP was alerted about a youth jumping off a bridge on highway 7 in Beckwith Township, located west of Carleton Place. Officers arrived at the scene shortly after 6 p. m. on July 31, where they spoke to the driver before arresting them and taking them to the police station for testing.

Devon Watson, a 40-year-old woman, was charged with operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus) and having liquor readily available in a vehicle.

Watson’s driver’s licence has been suspended for 90 days, and her vehicle will be impounded for seven days.

On Saturday, August 1, the Lanark County Detachment of the OPP received another report regarding a potential impaired driver on Arthur Street in Carleton Place. Officers found the vehicle that night just after 11:15 p. m.

After being taken to the station and tested, Kyle Hudson, a 39-year-old man, was charged with operation while impaired – alcohol or drug, failing or refusing to comply with a breath demand, and failing to comply with an undertaking.

His driver’s licence has also been suspended for 90 days and his vehicle is similarly impounded for seven days.
