Ottawa climate: Particular climate assertion warns freezing drizzle is feasible Monday and Tuesday

One other blast of winter climate has moved into Ottawa with snow and freezing rain.


Snow started falling in Ottawa simply after 2 p.m. Setting Canada stated 4 centimetres had been recorded as of 8 p.m. 


A freezing rain warning was issued simply earlier than 9 p.m. because the icy precipitation started falling in Ottawa.


“Freezing rain blended with snow this night is predicted to vary to freezing drizzle in a single day. Metropolis of Ottawa workers stated they have been ready for the freezing rain tonight.

OC Transpo can also be getting ready for the climate, with a plan in place to maintain the O-Prepare Line 1 working.

Freezing Rain Warning in Kingston


A freezing rain warning was in impact for the Kingston and Brockville areas for a part of the day. Setting Canada stated some areas may see 2 to 4 mm of freezing rain.


Ontario Provincial Police stated Monday afternoon that “street situations are getting worse because the freezing rain and sleet has impacted journey instances” within the Kingston space.


A number of single-vehicle collisions had been reported because of the street situations and “drivers going too quick for situations,” the OPP stated.


Police stated black ice was reported on Freeway 401 within the Prescott space within the afternoon.


“If you do not have to be on the roads, please keep off. In case you are driving now or this night, please SLOW DOWN. Now we have had quite a few collisions across the area as snow and freezing rain strikes in and situations are getting worse,” OPP stated on social media.


“One drawback space has been Freeway 401. Leeds OPP has a number of collisions from the of Brockville to the east facet of Brockville and into the into Grenville OPP space. And the 401 eastbound, simply east of the 416, is blocked for jackknifed tractor trailer.”


By Monday night, the freezing rain warning had been changed with a freezing drizzle advisory cautioning of freezing drizzle in a single day and into Tuesday morning.


December snowfall


Ottawa has already obtained 34.6 cm of snow in December.


Setting Canada says 8 cm of snow fell on Dec. 4, 3.4 cm on Dec. 5, 11.6 cm on Dec. 7 and eight.4 cm on Dec. 8.


The 34.6 cm of snow within the first week of December already surpasses the December 2023 snowfall complete of 27.5 cm. Ottawa obtained 96.4 cm of snow in December 2022.
