Residents of Oshawa are invited to join a community celebration next week for the official reopening of Renaissance Park located in the southern part of the city.
With the redevelopment nearing its end, locals can explore the ‘new’ park on Connery Crescent on Thursday, October 22. The city event will run from 4:30 p. m. to 5:30 p. m. and will include recreational activities, information tables, and “fall-themed fun.”
Access to the renovated park will be available from O’Hara Court.
The finished park is a result of public consultations held in 2025 and offers a range of new features aimed at promoting outdoor activity, play, and connection with nature. These features include:
Accessible pathways that connect to the waterfront trail An accessible playground with slides, climbers, and sensory play opportunities A splash pad with overhead and ground spray features Accessible seating areas A shade structure Outdoor fitness equipment A nature outlook area featuring native plantings that support local wildlife Native tree and shrub plantings throughout the park

The new layout emphasizes providing engaging and imaginative play options for people of all ages and abilities.
The $1.43 million redevelopment creates a “modern, accessible and welcoming” space where residents can gather, play, and stay active while enjoying connections to Oshawa’s waterfront and natural surroundings, as stated by the city on their website.
This project is one among several initiatives happening around Oshawa this year, including improvements at Lakeview Park, Knights of Columbus Park, Easton Park, as well as enhancements related to Rotary Park and Pool legacy project.
