When the popular east-end park in Oshawa, known as ‘Rainbow Park,’ closed for renovations last year, many worried that the beloved rainbow on the splash pad at Easton Park would be replaced.
“Easton Park Oshawa … aka Rainbow park is officially closed and getting an upgrade,” commented Facebook user Community Connections last November. “So many memories. Wish they would keep the existing rainbow and incorporate it into the new park.”

The renovation is now finished, and the city invites residents back on October 31, with a city spokesperson mentioning that the upgraded rainbow arch – featuring a glow-up – is “anticipated” to be installed next week for the grand reopening.
The revamped Easton Park, which locals affectionately call Rainbow Park, now offers several new amenities aimed at encouraging active play, accessibility, and community connections. These include:
Junior and senior playgrounds, featuring Oshawa’s first wheelchair accessible swing Splash pad (with rainbow) Full-size multi-use sport court for basketball and ball hockey Seating areas and shade structures Walking loop and pathways Upgraded parking, including accessible spaces Native tree planting and open green space Improved accessibility and safety features throughout
The community is encouraged to join city staff for a celebration on October 31 from 10 a. m. to noon. There will be city information tables, recreation activities, Halloween treats, and fall-themed fun.

Located at 900 Adelaide Ave. E., at the northeast corner of Adelaide Avenue and Harmony Road, the park’s design was influenced by feedback from community members during public consultations. It focuses on offering engaging, creative recreational opportunities for people of all ages and abilities.
