A 29-year-old man from Oshawa, Ontario, has been charged in connection with a hit and run in Markham that left a pedestrian with serious injuries. Police say he attempted to hide the vehicle afterwards.

According to an updated report from York Police, the accident occurred on February 19 at approximately 3:41 p. m. near the intersection of Denison Street and Featherstone Avenue.

It is alleged that the victim was hit and then carried on the hood of the car before being found about 50 meters east of where the collision took place.

The woman was taken to a trauma center and is currently in serious condition.

On March 20, Nathan Kumar Persaud, 29, from Oshawa, was arrested by officers.

Persaud faces several charges including dangerous operation causing bodily harm, failure to stop after an accident resulting in bodily harm, and drug trafficking-related offenses.

Investigators claim he took actions to hide his identity and fix damages on the car.

The police are asking anyone who might have sold parts to him or unknowingly helped with repairs to come forward.
