The province is supporting Francophone artists and literary organizations to thrive.

They’re investing $7,500 through the Ontario Arts Council into Éditions Terre d’Accueil, a Francophone publishing house located in Oshawa.

This funding will help the organization celebrate the diverse voices of authors from Ontario’s Francophonie and promote their work focused on themes of empowerment and unity.

“Our government understands the significant role that Francophone literary arts play in encouraging and celebrating creative expression,” said Lorne Coe, MPP Whitby, Parliamentary Assistant to the Minister of Children, Community, and Social Services and Parliamentary Assistant to the Minister of Colleges, Universities, Research Excellence and Security. “This support will assist Oshawa artists and arts organizations in making a positive contribution to our economy and the province’s Francophone community.”

The Littérature – Projets francophones program supports Francophone literary artists based in Ontario as they create new works for book-length publication. It also aids literary performers who wish to create or record their own repertoire.

“Ontario’s professional Francophone literary artists and organizations enhance our lives, build strong communities, and stimulate economic activity,” said Stan Cho, Minister of Tourism, Culture and Gaming. “Investing in local artists and organizations that promote pride, inspire creativity, and strengthen local economies is a key priority for the government. I’m excited to support Éditions Terre d’Accueil in harnessing art’s power to uplift talented Francophone literary professionals in Oshawa while helping them develop essential skills.”

“As a Francophone publishing house situated in Oshawa, we are overjoyed by this grant announcement which allows us to amplify the variety of literary voices among our Franco-Ontarian authors while celebrating their creativity,” said Suzanne Kemenang, Directrice générale, Éditions Terre d’Accueil. “We want to extend our deepest thanks to the Ontario Arts Council for its Littérature – Projets francophones program that supports and promotes Francophone publishing in our province.”
