According to the City of Oshawa, a new Community Improvement Project area is being suggested in central Oshawa.

The city has started an amendment to the Oshawa Official Plan to create this new area for the lands marked on the map titled ‘Proposed Central Oshawa Protected Major Transit Station Area Community Improvement Project Area’ (see below).

The proposed plan for the Central Oshawa Protected Major Transit Station Area will feature several financial incentive programs, along with a municipal property acquisition, investment, and partnership program aimed at improving, developing, and redeveloping properties within this area, as stated in a city announcement.

The planned amendment to the existing Urban Growth Centre Community Improvement Plan will introduce a new municipal property acquisition, investment, and partnership program focused on enhancing properties within the area shown shaded on the map titled ‘Existing Urban Growth Centre Community Improvement Project Area’ (see map below).

The city mentioned that a public meeting under the Planning Act will take place as a joint session of both the Economic and Development Services Committee and the Corporate and Finance Services Committee to discuss this proposal along with its related Official Plan amendment and a proposed amendment to the current Urban Growth Centre Community Improvement Plan (File: 12-04-5136).

This meeting is scheduled for October 6 at Oshawa City Hall, located at 50 Centre Street South.
