Oshawa, Ontario, has been chosen as the venue for the 2026 Pan-American Sixes Lacrosse Championship, which will take place from September 29 to October 4 at Oshawa Civic Fields. The hosting rights were awarded to Lacrosse Canada by the Pan-American Lacrosse Association after a competitive bidding process.

This Pan-American event will kick off the qualification journey for the 2028 Olympic Games in Los Angeles, pending final approval from the International Olympic Committee.

The championships will feature top men’s and women’s sixes national teams from across the Pan-American region, making it a significant event on the global sixes stage. Teams competing in Oshawa will aim for advancement to the 2027 World Lacrosse Sixes Championships, which includes the best 16 men’s and women’s teams worldwide and is a key qualifier for LA28.

The event will be held at Oshawa Civic Fields, a premier multi-field facility known for its history of hosting lacrosse events. This past fall, it welcomed fans from around the globe during the World Lacrosse Super Sixes, marking a successful international gathering. Situated in Durham Region’s heart, Oshawa has long been seen as a vital area for lacrosse development in Ontario and throughout Canada.

This championship is an exciting opportunity for Canadian lacrosse fans to witness elite international sixes competition while supporting their sport on its path to Olympic participation. Hosting this event in Oshawa brings global attention to an enthusiastic lacrosse community and offers fans a chance to engage with top-level play.

Lacrosse Canada Executive Director Terry Rayner said: “I’m thrilled that Oshawa has been chosen to host the 2026 Pan-American Sixes Lacrosse Championships this fall. Durham has long been the hub for lacrosse in Ontario, and this international event – the first step on the road to the 2028 Olympics – offers a tremendous opportunity to showcase our community and the sport we love.”

Oshawa Mayor Dan Carter said: “We are honoured to be selected to host the 2026 Pan-American Sixes Lacrosse Championships. Our community has a deep-rooted history and connection to the sport of lacrosse, and this event will further position Oshawa as a premier destination for lacrosse and international sport. We look forward to welcoming athletes, coaches, families and fans from participating Pan Am countries to the great City of Oshawa.”

The Pan-American region has previously hosted several WL championship qualifying events. Last year saw Auburndale, Florida host the Pan-American Women’s Lacrosse Championship; this August Kingston, Jamaica will holdthe Men’s Championship.

PALA President Ann Kitt-Carpenetti stated: “On behalf of PALA, we’re thrilled to award hosting rights forthe 2026Pan-American Sixes Lacrosse Championshipsto Lacrosse Canada. More details about continental allocations along with information on full Olympic qualifications should be revealed by World Lacrosseshortly.
