WILLIAM ROBERT STEWART
1934-2026 William Robert Stewart, known to many as Bill, passed away peacefully on June 22, 2026. Thanks to the compassionate support of MAID, he was able to turn his final moments into a meaningful experience that our family will always hold dear. He is now reunited with his beloved wife Dee Dee and their daughter Shea. His resilience in tough times will inspire his surviving children, Sheri, Robert, and John; along with his wonderful grandchildren, Geordon, Garrett, Quinn, and Daniel. Bill grew up in Peterborough Ontario and played hockey for the Peterborough Petes Junior B team before joining the Oshawa Generals in the OHL. He even got an invitation to train with the Boston Bruins from his former teammate Harry Sinden. But after just a few weeks away from home, he realized something important-he was in love. He returned home and married his sweetheart. Hockey remained a lifelong passion for him. He traveled around playing hockey and sharing beers with friends who became lifelong companions. Many of Bill’s happiest memories were made in musty locker rooms filled with laughter and beer during games like “The Big Boys” of St. Pats or Coach’s Sunday morning matches. We extend our deepest gratitude to the staff at Brampton Civic Hospital. To Dr. Collins, our angel-we can’t thank you enough; please know you are forever in our hearts.
