A remarkable person. A full life.
Blair Gillies, a loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend to many, passed away peacefully on December 10th at Margaret Bahen Hospice.
Blair is survived by his wife Susan and children Janet (Dean), Danny (Allana), and Katie (Matt). He was predeceased by his first wife, Lynda, and his eldest daughter, Karen (Craig). Blair took great pride in being a grandpa to ten grandchildren. In November, he celebrated his sister Inez’s 100th birthday.
Born in Buckingham, Quebec, Blair spent his 92 years living all over Canada. He moved to Sutton in 1995 when he and Susan Williams united their families. He had a long career as an insurance adjuster focusing on commercial claims before retiring. After that, he continued to assist many people in Sutton with their insurance claims.
Blair loved traveling, camping, spending time with family and friends, and working on his model trains. He enjoyed sharing a good joke and always had one ready to tell. For many years he volunteered with Hospice Georgina and Sutton Fair while also serving as Treasurer for Virginia United Church.
Blair faced his cancer treatments with incredible grace, offering smiles and kind words to the staff and others fighting alongside him.
The family is truly thankful for the compassion and unwavering support provided by the health care professionals.
