Vic Symes passed away peacefully at the Brantford General Hospital on Wednesday, June 17, 2026, at the age of 91. He was born in River Hibert, NS, and moved to Ontario when he was in his 20s. Vic had a long and fulfilling life, characterized by dedication and quiet strength. People will remember him for his great sense of humour, kindness, love for family, and the lasting impact he had on everyone who knew him. He is survived by his wife Joanne, children John (Donna), Sue (Doug), Dan (Gayle), Brent Lamky (Melanie), and Paul Lamky. He was also a very proud grandfather to eight grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. Vic was predeceased by his son Darrell, sister Ruth, and daughter-in-law Carolyn. He was a well-respected businessman and owned both Symes Office Equipment and Symes Catering. Throughout his life, Vic actively participated in community activities. He served as a member of the Brantford Jaycees, Brantford Minor Sports, The Brantford Air Force Club, and held the position of Alderman for the City of Brantford. Vic played an integral role in the 1966 Brantford Red Sox Championship Team Executive as well as being involved with Burly Bus Lines Tours Happy Hookers and being a longtime member of The Brant Curling Club. He will always be fondly remembered as The Candy Man at parks and special events throughout the city. Friends are invited to join the family at Mc Cleister Funeral Home located at 495 Park Road N., Brantford on Saturday June 27, 2026 from 2-4 p. m. Cremation has already taken place.
