August 18, 1943 – May 23, 2026

Roy Joseph Diana, a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully on May 23, 2026, surrounded by his loving family.

Born in Fort William to Gilberto and Rose Diana, Roy led a life filled with hard work, family time, and adventure. He started his long career on the waterfront in 1963 and became a proud member of the Thunder Bay Grain Trimmers in 1975. After dedicating 50 years to this work, he retired in 2013.

On August 6, 1966, Roy married Simone Allard; together they enjoyed over 59 wonderful years of marriage. They raised two daughters, Jennifer and Joelle, creating countless treasured memories in the home he built on Government Road.

Roy had many interests including hobby farming, home renovations, travel adventures, cruising trips, attending country concerts and enjoying sunny winters down south. He especially loved cheering on his daughters at horse shows. One of his greatest joys was spending time with his three grandchildren: Travis, Madison, and Juliet.

Even with various health challenges throughout his life, Roy embraced every moment with family and friends.

A faithful parishioner at Corpus Christi Parish for many years, he held a special devotion to St. Jude.

He is survived by his wife Simone; daughters Jennifer Fisher and Joelle (John) Macey; grandchildren Madison (Dalton) and Juliet; brother Guy (Leslie); sisters Norma (Danny) Barro and Mary; as well as his loyal companions Kassie and Princess along with numerous extended family members and friends.

He was predeceased by his parents; Mother-in-law Jane Burnell; Father-in-law Bud Burnell; sister-in-law Eloise Kingswood; brothers-in-law Buster Burnell and Art Burnell; grandson Travis Giertuga; and son-in-law Lewis Fisher.

A heartfelt thank you goes out to RN’s Julius and Paula from Bayshore Home Care as well as Drs. David Probizanski, Kristina Pulkki, Mohammed Ibrahim , Margret Anthes , Currans Heart Centre staff , the doctors , nursing staff of floor 2C , ICU team , and Father Terry Sawchuk for their compassionate care during this time.

Cremation has taken place. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday June 13th ,2026 at11:00 am at Corpus Christi R. C Church by Rev. Terry Sawchuk. Visitation for family & friends will begin one hour before service time. Interment will occur later at Our Lady of Charity Mausoleum.

If friends wish to make a donation , the Northern Cancer Fund would be appreciated.
