Ross passed away peacefully at Alexandra Hospital in Ingersoll, Ontario, on Monday, January 12, 2026, surrounded by his family. He was 68 years old.
He was preceded in death by his father, Enoch Ralph Pick; his stepfather, Jack Waud; and his brother, Chris Waud.
Ross was a loving and dedicated father to Denny Pick and a proud grandfather to his precious granddaughter, Kahlan-who was the light of his life.
He will be greatly missed by his caring mother, Vera Waud; his sisters Kathy (Dave) Story, Nancy (Jim) Hume, Carrie (David) Nancekievill; his close friend Jigger, as well as numerous extended family members and friends.
A longtime worker at Rosco Electric, Ross had a reputation for being hardworking and loyal. He was affectionately known as the “grumpy old man,” a title he embraced with pride. Behind that tough exterior lay a kind heart and a great sense of humor. His love for chocolate was also well-known.
Ross enjoyed listening to rock music from the ‘70s and ’80s. He spent countless hours playing pool with friends as part of the “Run the Table” club and had a strong passion for poker-even though he’d be quick to say that he didn’t always win. He loved supporting the Boston Bruins, Miami Dolphins and of course, the Toronto Blue Jays. Tennis also captured his attention-he loved watching it! We think he enjoyed hearing them grunt every time they hit the ball.
The family wants to express their heartfelt thanks to Ross’s sister and best friend Nancy for her unwavering support during this journey through difficult times. We also appreciate all the nurses and staff at Alexandra Hospital for their excellent care provided to Ross; special thanks go to Dr. Jill Matsuo for her compassion in Ross’s final days.
The family will welcome friends at Mc Beath-Dynes Chapel of the Glendinning Funeral Home located at 246 Thames Street South in Ingersoll on Friday, January 16, 2026 from 2:00-4:00 p. m. and again from 6:00-8:00 p. m. A Celebration of Ross’s Life will be held later on. Interment will take place at Norwich Cemetery in the spring.
Ross will be remembered for his strength, humor, devotion to family, and the lasting impact he made on everyone who knew him.
