In Loving Memory of Randy Wrigley
November 16, 1952 – July 7, 2026
With great sadness, the family of Randy Wrigley, affectionately called “My Boot” by his dear wife Sherry, announces his passing on July 7, 2026, at the age of 73.
Randy is survived by the love of his life and wife, Sherry. They shared an amazing 35 years full of adventures and memories. Together they traveled across Canada and to various places around the world, making wonderful memories along the way.
He will be fondly remembered by his children: Christopher (Kellie) Wrigley from Nipigon, Ontario; Rene (Tim) Johnson from Pampa, Texas; Allan (Dana) Wrigley from Sooke, British Columbia; Kris Tellier from Thunder Bay, Ontario; Scott (Kelly) Wrigley from Thunder Bay, Ontario; and Jennifer Wrigley from Thunder Bay, Ontario. He was a proud grandfather and Papa to 15 grandchildren who each held a special spot in his heart. Randy also leaves behind his sisters Angela Mc Coy, Dawn (Mike) Montgomery, and Kara Montgomery; brothers Rob (Tammy) Montgomery and Shaune (Holly) Montgomery; stepfather Walton (Lorraine) Montgomery; along with many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and cherished friends.
He was predeceased by his first wife Judy; his parents Evelyn “Lyn” Holland and Harold Raymond Wrigley; as well as his grandparents Gladys and Hap Holland whom he lovingly referred to as Nan, Mom, and Dad.
Over the years he also lost many beloved pets including Maulie and D. J., who had a special bond with him. Currently surviving him is Matilda-better known as Tilly-his little buddy who held a significant place in his heart.
Randy was dedicated to being a husband, father, father-in-law, brother, uncle, grandfather, and friend. After retiring from Bowater he kept close ties with many friends he considered family over time.
As a father figure, Randy led by example rather than through strict instructions. He never demanded perfection nor judged his kids for their mistakes. What mattered most to him was that they took responsibility for their actions while learning from life’s ups and downs. He allowed each child to carve out their own identity without expecting them to replicate his path but instead encouraged them to walk their own journey with integrity and strength. His children always knew they were loved unconditionally no matter where life took them.
The greatest joy in Randy’s life came from family. His grandchildren were among his biggest blessings-it brought him immense pride watching each one grow up. He recognized something unique in all fifteen of them celebrating their successes while guiding them through challenges in life. If there’s one wish he had it would have been for more time-to see them flourish further-to witness what remarkable individuals he already believed they would become. He was the kind of father and grandfather who believed in them even before they learned how to believe in themselves.
A passionate fisherman and hunter, Randy spent countless hours enjoying nature whether on water or land. His times at camp were precious where he made unforgettable memories with those at Kash River Resort. He loved gathering around card tables sharing stories over campfires while unwinding with friends over a cold beer. His laughter could fill any room-it was contagious-and he’d often say laughing was one thing that brought him pure joy.
One legendary story that will always be shared is about that unforgettable Texas Hold’em game when Randy had a royal flush but somehow lost! It perfectly showcased how well he could laugh at life’s surprises.
A man grounded in integrity, Randy strongly believed your word meant everything. He readily lent help whenever needed spending endless hours assisting both family members & friends. Although faced with numerous obstacles throughout life, h e approached challenges head-on fueled by determination along with an unwavering love for those surrounding him. His devotion towards family & friendships remained strong through it all!
Sherry along with their families extend heartfelt thanks towards children, friends, and loved ones whose support, k indness,& compassion helped during this tough period.
As we honor Randy may we find comfort reflecting upon shared memories, laughter & joyous moments created together. He’ll be greatly missed yet our recollection filled love, laughter & resilience continues living on within everyone who knew him.
