Verna Katherine Hill passed away on March 25, 2025 surrounded by her family. She was a daughter of James and Muriel (Bigney) Purvis.

It was not uncommon to find Verna in the garden on a nice sunny day, tending her flowers or sitting in quilting during her spare time. Verna was very involved with the CWL for over 40 years spending countless hours volunteering her time to help others. Faith played a big role in her life. What Verna was most proud of though was her family she loved spending time with her family anytime she had a chance and cherish every moment she got with them.

She is survived by children Heather (Dennis) Benoit, Karen MacKenzie, Paul (Coleen) MacKenzie; grandchildren David (Kristy Lynn) and  Latisha (Craig) Benjamin; brother Bernie Purvis (Frances); brother in-law Eldred (Margie) MacKenzie and sister in-law Eileen MacKenzie.

Verna was predeceased by her husbands David MacKenzie and Hugh Hill, sons Graham and Tim Mackenzie; brothers James and John Purvis; sisters Dorothy Caine and Joyce Smith.

Visitation will take place on Friday March 28th from 2-4 & 7-9pm in the Eagles Funeral Home. Funeral Mass will be held at 11am March 29th in The Holy Name Parish, Westville. Reception to follow in the Church Hall.

Donations may be made to the SPCA or The Canadian Cancer Society.
