With great sadness, we share the news of Michael Joseph Heffernan’s passing on June 7, 2026, at the age of 83. He was preceded in death by his dear parents, Kathleen and Donald (Micky) Heffernan, and his beloved wife, Carol Pennylegion (née Mc Dermott). Michael was a caring and devoted father to Debbie Kay (Louis Cvetanovski), Laura Kay (Greg Masse), and Daniel Heffernan (Mary Lou Gellisen). He took pride in being a grandfather to Rebecca Lefebvre (Jordan), Eric Cvetanovski (Miranda), and Noah Cvetanovski (Victoria). His family also includes his late brother, Robert (Bob) Heffernan (Lynda, Robin, Brian, Craig) and his dear sister, Maureen Tarbat (Gord), who remained close to him throughout his life.
He will be greatly missed by his many friends, particularly those from the two seniors’ clubs he enjoyed attending. Michael was a lifelong fan of the Toronto Blue Jays and seldom passed up an opportunity to cheer for or vent at his team.
Known for being dependable, generous, and kind-hearted. Michael spent much of his life helping others. He was an award-winning volunteer who dedicated countless hours to various charities in the Windsor area including Hospice, the Canadian Cancer Society, Assisted Living of SW Ontario/ALSO, the Brain Injury Association, and Julien’s House.
Mike graduated from St. Clair College in Windsor and studied at the Business School at Western University in London, Ontario. His love for learning and service carried through into everything he did. People admired him not just for his dedication to the community but also for his warmth, creativity, and caring nature.
