It’s with deep sorrow and heartfelt remembrance that we share the passing of Marwan Taqtaq on the morning of July 10, 2025, on the age of 83. Marwan is survived by his devoted spouse of practically 54 years, Nadia (née Musallam); his sons Ibrahim “Abe” and Rami (Kim); and his beloved grandsons, Andrew and Matthew. He was the cherished son of the late Ibrahim and Lily Taqtaq, and pricey brother to Najwa (late Stated), Naila (late Ramzi), and Ghassan (Reema). Born in Jerusalem, Palestine, Marwan’s coronary heart remained ceaselessly tied to his homeland. In 1967, fleeing battle and stuffed with hope, he immigrated to Canada with a pharmacy degree from the American College of Beirut and $80 in his pocket. He finally settled in Windsor, Ontario, a metropolis that welcomed him with open arms and have become the house the place he would construct his life, household, and legacy. Shortly after establishing himself in Canada, Marwan returned to the Center East to marry Nadia, starting a lifelong partnership constructed on love, religion, and perseverance. His early skilled years had been spent as a pharmacist, most notably at Jack Austin Medication within the Woolco Pharmacy on Dougall Avenue. Via relentless dedication, he helped develop the enterprise into one of many largest pharmacy operations in southwestern Ontario, finally overseeing a number of shops and servicing nursing properties throughout the area. He remained deeply grateful to those that gave him early alternatives and positioned their belief in him. Marwan’s imaginative and prescient, nevertheless, prolonged nicely past pharmacy. In 1986, he based the Windsor-Detroit Tunnel Responsibility Free Store, Ontario’s first land border duty-free store. It was a daring and pioneering transfer, constructed on intuition and braveness.
