On Sunday June 21, 2026, we sadly said “goodbye for now” to Mario, our dear and beloved Husband, Father, Grandfather and Great Grandfather, who passed peacefully at the age of 97 years.

Mario was a loving and devoted husband to Maria for 69 years, having met and married in Windsor after he emigrated from Atina, Italy, in 1952.

Mario spent his teenage years farming and helping with post-war rebuilding efforts. When he came to Canada for a fresh start, he reunited with his older brother Tony in Windsor. Through his work as a general laborer alongside his colleague, mentor and future brother-in-law Joe, Mario met the love of his life-Joe’s sister Maria-whom he married in 1957. She stood by him through all his endeavors. He was a respected contractor and President of Mario Pallisco Construction Co., also contributing to the Windsor Separate School Board by repairing and modernizing schools. After retiring, Mario kept giving back to the community through volunteer work at Windsor Regional Hospital’s Hotel-Dieu campus. He was a proud member of several organizations including Knights of Columbus #5642 River Canard as a 3rd degree Knight, the Caboto Club, the Ciociaro Club and Unifor Local 2458.

Mario always worked hard and was determined to provide a good life for Maria and their two children, Ada (Doug) and Aldo (Donna). Later on in life, he found joy in being with his five grandchildren: Cristina (Kevin), Michael, Daniella (Stephen), Julia (Chris) and Natalie (Christopher), along with three great-grandchildren: Rosie, Joey and Claire. Proud of all of us, he taught us values like integrity that guided him every day in both personal life and business. His strong faith showed through his patience and kindness as well as his willingness to help others.

His Italian traditions meant so much to him; making homemade wine or taking care of his garden were just two examples. Sharing stories about life back home brought everyone laughter as we envisioned Mario’s childhood adventures with siblings. These tales were often shared during gatherings that he loved because Mario was truly social and enjoyed having fun.

Mario is predeceased by his parents Domenico and Liberada; siblings Antonio (Iole), Fiorinda (Luigi), Santa (Giuseppe), Iolanda (Giuseppe) along with brother Raffaele who is survived by Maria. He is survived by brother Alberico (Maria) as well as brothers-in-law Joe (Dina), Frank (Marie), Nino (Josephine).

The family would like to express their gratitude to the wonderful Paramedics with Windsor-Essex EMS along with Drs. K. Dobosz & C. Laing plus the Nursing Staff at Windsor Regional Hospital Metropolitan Campus for their compassionate care shown towards Mario.

Visitation will take place at Windsor Chapel Funeral Home (Central Chapel) located at 1700 Tecumseh Rd E. (519-253-7234) on Friday June 26 from 2:00 -5:00 pm & again from 7:00 -9:00pm; parish prayers are scheduled for 4:30 pm that day. Family & friends can gather on Saturday June 27 at Our Lady of Assumption Church located at 2735 University Ave W starting at 10:00 am followed by funeral Mass at 11:00 am. Entombment will follow afterward at Heavenly Rest Cemetery located at 5005 Howard Ave.).
