The family is heartbroken to share the news of Lillian Marguerite Fraser, who passed away in New Glasgow, formerly of West River Station, on Friday, October 3rd at the Aberdeen Hospital’s Palliative Care Unit.
Margie was born to Hugh and Beatrice (Frampton) Hoegg in Stellarton.
She dedicated many years to the Pictou County Co-Op as both a member and an employee. Margie also served as a past president and lifetime member of the Pictou West Liberal Association. For many years, she volunteered at the Aberdeen Hospital gift shop, was part of Eastern Star and IODE, and contributed her time at the IODE nearly new store. She attended St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church in Gairloch where she participated in Ladies Aid and AMS.
As a proud mother, Margie raised three daughters and six sons. She is survived by Rosalie (Serge) Lavoie, Cathy (Jack) Lewis, John (Kelly), Glen (Kim), Eldred (Lori), Derek (Helen), and daughter-in-law Kathy Mac Naughton. Margie was also a grandmother to 14 grandchildren and great-grandmother to 16 great-grandchildren; she is survived by several nieces and nephews as well.
Margie was predeceased by her husband Robert W. “Bert” Fraser, her daughter Barb, son-in-law Bill Hennigar, along with sons David and Robbie. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
Visitation will take place on Thursday, October 9th from 2-4pm and again from 6-8pm at Eagles Funeral Home. Her funeral service will be held on Friday, October 10th at 11am from St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church in Gairloch with Rev. Bonnie Langille and Rev. Charles Mc Pherson leading the service.
