Josef Stenger passed away peacefully in palliative care on October 4, 2025, at the age of 96. He has reunited with his beloved wife Edeltraud (nee Saloga)(1985) and dear friend Mary Agnes Csiszar (2016). He was a loving father to Margret Paré (Michael) and a proud Opa to Marcel Paré, Carmen Clayton (Joshua), along with being a great-Opa to Ethan, Mallory, Wesley, and Audrey. Josef is also survived by his brother Hans in Germany. He was predeceased by his parents Josef and Theresia Stenger as well as his brother Gregor (1995).
Josef dedicated many years working for John MM Troup Ltd. and Trojan Interior Contracting Ltd. He was a lifelong member of the IUPAT Union and also active in the Teutonia Club. Additionally, he proudly served with Bishop J. T. Kidd Council 4924 and was a 4th Degree Member of the Rt. Rev. W. J. Langlois Assembly 1789 Knights of Columbus.
The family wishes to express their gratitude to the staff at Lifetimes on Riverside, Dr. Sahar Khan, along with the Cancer Centre staff and nurses in the Chemo Suite, as well as all the doctors, nurses, and staff at Hotel Dieu Grace Healthcare – Palliative Care and Hospice of Windsor for their compassionate care.
Visitation will occur at WINDSOR CHAPEL FUNERAL HOME – BANWELL CHAPEL located at 11677 Tecumseh Rd. E., (519-253-7235) on Wednesday, October 8, 2025 from 5-8 pm. The Knights of Columbus prayers will be held at 7:30 pm. Visitation will continue at St. Michael Catholic Church (2153 Parkwood Ave.) on Thursday, October 9, 2025 from 9:30 am until the Funeral Mass starts at 10:30 am. Interment will follow at Windsor Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
