It’s with heavy hearts we announce the passing of Jagoda Stevanov on Saturday, August 16, 2025 on the Windsor Regional Hospital on the age of 81. She fell asleep within the Lord throughout the early days of the Dormition Quick in preparation of the Nice Feast- Dormition of the Most Holy Theotokos.

 

Pricey spouse and “Sosa” of Gruja/Gary “Lala” Stevanov for 56 years. Devoted Mama to Aleksandar (Jelica) Stevanov and Andjelka (Jason) LaMarre. Cherished Baba to Milena, Marina, Adam and Milica. Loving sister to Slobodan (Marija) Stancic and caring aunt to Daniel Stancic and Dragana Coverljan and her youngsters Katarina and Nikola Pitik. Predeceased by father Milan, mom Veselinka, sister Dobrila Coverljan, nephew Dario Stancic and kumovi Ljubisa and Bea Vlajkovic. Sadly missed by prolonged household in Serbia and Kumovi in Canada.

 

Jagoda left her household, pals and administrative job at ZitoProdukt Zrenjanin and emigrated to Canada to affix her new husband in Windsor and was instantly welcomed into the Gracanica Serbian Orthodox Church Group with open arms! Lala and Jagoda labored collectively at their eating places all through the Nineteen Seventies, Lala’s Place and Lala’s Delicatessen on Ottawa Road, The Gypsy Baron on Entrance Street in LaSalle and in internet hosting and touring prime superstar vocalists all through North America. Within the Nineteen Eighties Jagoda labored half time at Avala Printing as a typesetter for the Voice of Canadian Serbs newspaper. Many will know Jagoda “Strawberry” as one of many friendliest servers from the Deli and Meat counter at NandD Grocery store Eastside and Yorktown areas and on the Triple J Deli in Windsor Market.

 

Jagoda was continually volunteering for her Church and Serbian Group as a member of the Kolo Srpskih Sestara, Serbian Heritage Girls’s Society and Gracanica Church. Since her youngsters have been younger, Jagoda helped within the Serbian Centre kitchen, served banquets, baked, cleaned, after which introduced her grandchildren to the Church basement to make noodles along with her Kolo Sisters. In later years, she would sit at her kitchen desk calling girls to bake or take a volunteer shift or to unfold the information about upcoming occasions whereas on the similar time catching up with pals asking about their households and excellent news to share with others. Everybody cherished Jagoda as a result of she was variety and reliable. She genuinely cared about individuals and that confirmed as she greeted pals along with her vivid eyes, candy smile, enthusiasm and constructive power.

 

Jagoda was all the time a supportive spouse to Lala and such a mild, loving and proud Mama to Sasha and Andjela. And when she turned a Baba, her coronary heart was full! She cherished her grandchildren along with her whole being and would gentle up with such happiness once they have been round her. Lala and Jagoda hosted many gatherings with family and friends serving scrumptious dinners, all the time stuffed with laughter from Baba’s jokes and humorous feedback. She didn’t take herself too significantly, she was actual and cherished to the fullest. That’s why she was so particular to us and to so many.

 

Visitation will happen on the Windsor Chapel – Banwell Location, 11677 Tecumseh Rd. E., Windsor, on Wednesday, August 20, from 3-5 pm and 7-9 pm with prayers at 8 pm. A Funeral service shall be held on Thursday, August 21 at 11 am on the Gracanica Serbian Orthodox Church, 1960 Meldrum Rd., Windsor, with Fr. Milorad Delic officiating and an interment to comply with at Windsor Memorial Gardens.

 

In lieu of flowers, donations could also be made in Jagoda’s reminiscence to the Circle of Serbian Sisters or Gracanica Serbian Orthodox Church.
