Dolores D. Lombardo, age 97, of Burr Ridge, IL, passed away peacefully on Thursday, November 20th, 2025, in Romeoville, IL. She was born on August 27, 1928, in Windsor, Ontario, Canada, to the late Michael and Cecilia Ostrowski.
Dolores was a loving mother to Robert M. (Karen L.) Lombardo of Minooka, IL, and Maria A. (John Kucera) Lombardo of Palm Springs, CA; a proud grandmother to Robert E. Lombardo of Minooka, IL, and Samantha R. (Taylor) Shapiro of Shorewood, IL; and a great-grandmother to Juniper R. Shapiro. She was also a dear aunt to Michelle Ostrowski of Brampton, Ontario, Canada and had many nieces and nephews who adored her.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her beloved husband Primo Robert Lombardo; and her brother Jack (Jean) Ostrowski.
Born and raised in Windsor, Ontario, Canada, Dolores discovered her love for ballet as a young girl. Her passion for dance led her to teach ballet to many students throughout the years.
Dolores met her husband Primo unexpectedly while walking past his home. That chance encounter sparked a beautiful marriage that lasted 74 years. Together they nurtured their family with love and devotion.
Apart from family life, she loved traveling extensively with her loved ones across various countries from the Arctic Circle all the way down to Australia’s southern shores. Dolores also had an appreciation for music-especially ballet and opera-and enjoyed collecting fine jewelry and antiques.
A devoted Catholic throughout her life, Dolores embodied the values she held dear and shared those principles with everyone around her.
For the last eight months of her life at Story Point in Romeoville, she received much affection from residents and staff alike as well as from physical therapists who cared for her deeply. Special thanks go out to Joanie, Judy, Maureen, Cathy, Doris , and Nyle for their unwavering support during this time along with Vitas Hospice for their kindness shown toward Dolores and family.
A Memorial Mass will be held privately by the family as per Dolores’s wishes after cremation has taken place. Interment will follow at Heavenly Rest Cemetery in Ontario , Canada where she will rest alongside her husband.
