With heavy hearts, we share the news of our Mom’s passing, Anne Elizabeth Dooley. She was born on September 13, 1942, the sole daughter of the late Christine Chisholm. Growing up in Westville, Mom finished her studies at Westville High School and went on to Maritime Business College. Some of her favorite times were spent working at Bingo and dancing at Saturday Night dances, where she met our dad, Medford. Together they nurtured their five children and their special foster daughter Mary. After 51 years together, Dad passed away in 2014, but we were overjoyed when Mom found love again with George Dooley-her first boyfriend from high school. They tied the knot in 2016 and just recently celebrated nine wonderful years of marriage. The last few years with George brought her so much happiness and laughter as they blended their families into one. Mom is survived by her husband, George Dooley; sons Louie, Chris, Calvin (Sonya), Bill (Sharon); daughter and best friend Jessica MacDonald (Walter); and special foster daughter Mary Chennell (Jimmy). Her pride and joy are her only grandchildren, Tysha Brar (Sahil) and little Annie Mae; stepsons Wade Dooley (Brenda), Kevin Dooley (Darla); stepdaughter Lynette; step-grandchildren Steven (Katelyn), Nick, Brandon, Jeremy (Emma); cousin Jean MacKinnon who was like a sister to her; brothers-in-law Bill Stevens, Calvin Wright, Eddie Stevens (Lenora), Myles Stevens (Jean); sister-in-law Angeline Stevens; along with many nieces and nephews. Besides her mother, she was predeceased by her husband Medford Stevens; Aunt Catherine MacMillian Reekie; cousin Doris MacMaster; brothers-in-law Lawson (Lollie) Stevens and Farrell MacKenzie; sisters-in-law Ina Cameron, Rhoda MacKenzie, and Audrey Wright. Mom had a heart as big as can be and loved everyone she met. Her home was always welcoming to those she cared about. Above all else was her faith in the Lord that guided everything she did. Even in her last moments she declared “God is so good.” The visitation will take place on Wednesday, July 23 from 2-4 PM and 7-9 PM at Eagles Funeral Home. The Mass of Christian Burial will be held at the Church of the Holy Name in Westville on Thursday, July 24, 2025 at 11:00 AM. If you’d like to make a donation in Mom’s memory please consider giving to the Palliative Care Society or any charity you prefer. A heartfelt thanks to VON staff members from ER and palliative care for their kindness towards Mom. “If love could have saved you mom, you would have lived forever”.
