Phillip Canada, 66, Passes Away

Mr. Phillip Michael Canada, age 66, of Cleveland, Georgia, passed away Tuesday, August 26, 2025.

The family will receive friends from 4:00 to 8:00 pm Thursday, August 28, 2025 at Memorial Park Riverside Chapel. Funeral services will be held 2:00 pm Friday, August 29, 2025 at Memorial Park Riverside Chapel with interment to follow at Belton Baptist Church Cemetery in Lula.

Phillip was born May 18, 1959 in Gainesville, Georgia. He was the son of the late Rev. Harmon Michael Canada and Shirley Annette (Pierce) Canada.

Phillip graduated from North Hall High School class of 1977. He started working at Greenways Grocery when he was just 14 and went on to work for Winn Dixie, Deep South, Coastal Supply, Climate Supply, Total Supply. Eventually he owned Gainesville Appliance Parts. Phillip had a passion for cutting grass and collecting antique cars. He always had a bright smile and loved to joke around. His caring nature meant he often helped others and he’ll be truly missed in the days to come.

He is survived by his children, Mandi Philyaw (Cale) and Danielle Murphy (Jeffrey); grandchildren Taylor, Jake, Cullen, Neelia; brother Paul (Beth) Canada; sister Angela (Michael) Pritchard; special nephew Micah and several nieces and nephews also survive him. A dear friend Janie Gilstrap stood by him until the end and loved him deeply. Additionally he is survived by aunts Gloria (Canada) Aultman; and Bobbie (Pierce) Slaton.
