With heavy hearts, we share that Mc Gregor King Madigan of Northcote, Ontario started his spirit journey on Sunday, January 11, 2026, at just 5 years old. He was surrounded by the endless love of his parents, close family members, and many dear friends.

Mc Gregor was born on November 12, 2020, in Ottawa, Ontario to his caring parents Troy and Tracy Madigan. He was a loving brother to Lachland Madigan. A treasured grandson of Sylvester and Mary Lyn Madigan, Wendy Jocko, Henry and Paula Mc Mullin. A cherished nephew to Amy and Cory Southwell, Marshall Catonio, Davis and Samantha Catonio, and Taylor Mc Mullin (Manny). He will be fondly remembered by cousins Hudson and Carter Southwell, Keysha and Kylie Two-Axe Mc Mullin, Keenan Mc Mullin, Asher and Everleigh Hart along with all his other relatives from the Madigan and Afelskie families. His uncle James Mc Mullin had passed away before him.

Mc Gregor was truly a special boy-smart, kind-hearted, caring, and full of determination. From learning to walk at just nine months old to riding a bike by age three; once he set out to do something, he made it happen. Full of energy, he loved running around jumping and climbing on everything he could find-a little wild child with an immense love for nature. No matter if it was raining or snowing; as long as he could be outdoors he was content.

Although often quiet with few words spoken beyond “mama” and “dada,” one of his earliest words was “tractor.” Those close to him knew how passionate he was about tractors, machines and farm tools. Living in a farming community allowed him many chances to watch the machinery work or even ride along with one of the Brisco boys while they tended the fields. He truly experienced every little boy’s dream.

By age five already took pride in being a hard worker. You’d often find him “helping,” or sometimes joyfully getting in the way during home projects or chores where he could lend a hand. With sheer confidence he’d measure deck boards better than most professionals.. or so he’d believe! His curiosity combined with his cheerful spirit lit up every place he entered; this is something we’ll always remember.

Mc Gregor had an innate willingness to help others that showed through all his actions. Whether it involved folding laundry or setting up ski-doo trail markers; no job felt too big or too small for him because all he wanted was to assist in any way possible. In true Mc Gregor style his last act showcased remarkable generosity-by donating his heart, lungs, liver & kidneys which helped save five lives offering hope amid deep sadness.

We are incredibly thankful for Paul, Erika, Danny , and Mary from Trillium Gift of Life Network who provided guidance during this heartfelt time making such kindness possible. Even though our hearts ache from this heartbreaking loss , we find comfort knowing that Mc Gregor’s impact continues through those whose lives were saved. We hope some meaning can emerge from this overwhelming sorrow.

A heartfelt thank you goes out first responders who arrived promptly on scene as well as Dr. Daniel Ostapowicz , Dr. Luke Ryan , Dr. Erin Murray alongside their fantastic team at St. Francis Memorial Hospital for their tireless efforts attempting revive him. Our gratitude extends towards paramedics with Ornge Ambulance transporting our beloved boy into trauma unit also doctors, nurses & allied health specialists at CHEO providing compassionate care throughout final days.

Kitchi-Miigwetch goes out Kevin Lamarr, Nathalie Kauffeldt , Naomi Sarazin & Claudette Zadow for ceremonies, songs, and prayers given so lovingly helping light Mc Gregor’s path onward.

This isn’t goodbye because we’ll see you again someday! Sending you off filled with our love until we meet once more!

If desired instead flowers donations can be made towards St. Francis Valley Healthcare Foundation or Children’s Hospital Eastern Ontario (CHEO).
