Kathryn “Midget” Ann Canada, 83, of Mansfield passed away peacefully on Sunday, April 6, 2025 at her home with her loving family around her.

Kathryn was born on April 12, 1941, in Crestline, to the late John and Phylis (James) Brown, Sr.

She graduated from Crestline High School in 1959 and spent many years working at Pepsi Co. in Mansfield until her retirement in 2003.

Kathryn was always outspoken and didn’t hold back when she had something to say. Beneath that boldness was a kind heart; she made friends easily and was adored by those who knew her.

She enjoyed life’s simple joys-a good movie, great tunes, and time with family. Whether it was a classic western or a thrilling horror movie, Kathryn loved a good story. Music also played an important role in her life; she especially appreciated the smooth sounds of Al Green, whose songs often filled the room with warmth and nostalgia.

Above all else, Kathryn loved spending time with her family. Her favorite memories were made during family cookouts filled with laughter, love, and delicious food wafting through the air.

Kathryn is survived by her son: Maurice (Rena Pitts-Canada) Canada Jr. of Mansfield; grandchildren: Marquis (Fiancé Nicole Glasner) Fortner of Lexington, Jerome (Melissa) Canada of Ontario, Nikita Carter of Ontario, and Martell Wright of Marion; along with eight great-grandchildren including great-grandson Marquis (Rowan) Fortner Jr., as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents and siblings: Jeannette Walker, Wayne “Dickie” Brown Sr., Gates Brown, John Brown Jr., and Elaine Floyd.

Friends can visit on Monday, April 14th, 2025 from 10:00am to 11:00am at First Baptist Church; located at 212 E. Livingston Ave., Crestline. The funeral service will begin right after at 11:00am led by Pastor Frank Bolden. Burial will take place afterward at Greenlawn Cemetery.

The Gompf Funeral Service – Crestline Chapel at 223 W. Main St., Crestline is honored to assist Kathryn “Midget” Ann Canada’s family during this time.
