An artist with a unique vision, Kim studied art at Ontario College of Art and design at Sheridan School of Design. His work earned him numerous national and international awards including the De Beers International Award and the One of a Kind Award. Most recently he received the Award of Excellence from the Royal Canadian Regiment for a memorial sculpture honoring Canadian soldiers who lost their lives in Afghanistan. He also designed the new Chain of Office for the Mayor of Kingston back in 1998.
A highly skilled goldsmith with an incredible imagination, Kim often drew inspiration from nature and life’s forms which brought happiness to many around the world. His sharp intellect spanned across various genres and fields. A kind-hearted and generous person with endless curiosity and empathy, he made a positive impact on many lives. His love for language remained strong until the end; he would use metaphors to express what words alone couldn’t capture.
Kim passed away at home on his own terms just like he lived his life-surrounded by his beloved Ruhi along with caring community nurses and PSWs who provided exceptional support. A celebration of his remarkable life will be organized later this year for family members , friends , neighbors , and community members.
In lieu of flowers please consider donating to the Go Fund Me Campaign that supports Kim’s youngest child who is suffering from Very Severe Myalgic Encephalomyelitis (ME). https://gofund. me/79f16bfda
