With heavy hearts, we share the news of Devin Corey Orcutt’s passing on July 9, 2025, at the Saint John Regional Hospital, surrounded by his family’s love.
Devin was born in Edmonton, AB, on November 18, 1974, to Terry Orcutt and Carol (Sletto) Zinck. He was a loving partner for 23 years to Kim (Findlay) Orcutt, whom he married in 2015.
Devin was a caring son and husband, as well as a proud grandfather. He had a kind and generous spirit that thrived in the structured life of the military. At just 14 years old, he joined the Army Cadets and dedicated his working life to serving his country. After finishing high school, he enlisted in the regular forces as a mechanic with the Army before transitioning to Intelligence Operations (Int Op) with the Air Force. He completed one tour in Afghanistan but retired due to medical reasons afterward.
During his retirement years, Devin enjoyed spending time with friends and family who always knew they could rely on him for support or guidance-usually delivered with his signature humor and blunt honesty. Those who knew him recognized his willingness to go above and beyond for those he cared about. He filled his days with online activities like chatting with friends or playing MMORPG games and also loved gathering for Dungeons and Dragons sessions with both new acquaintances and old pals. He shared an appreciation for horror movies with Kim, making them part of their regular date nights. Additionally, he was a devoted cat dad to Jensen, Rue, Lilith, and Taran-and yes, he definitely spoiled them just a little!
Devin had an enormous heart full of generosity; it’s sadly ironic that it gave out on him. We will hold onto our memories of Devin filled with as much love as he showed us all. He will be greatly missed.
Alongside his wife Kim, Devin is survived by his mother Carol Zinck; father Terry Orcutt; mother-in-law Margaret Findlay; stepdaughter Meghann Mc Murray (Ian), whom he loved like a daughter; granddaughter Brookelynn-whom he affectionately called Papa’s Little Rose; sister Megan Orcutt; stepbrother Carl Zinck; along with many friends. He was preceded in death by his stepfather Gerry Zinck and father-in-law Thomas Findlay.
The arrangements have been handled by Fundy Funeral Home at 230 Westmorland Road (506-646-2424). In accordance with Corey’s wishes, cremation will take place without any services being held. For those wishing to honor him further can make memorial donations to Wounded Warriors of Canada or the Heart & Stroke Foundation or choose another charity close to their hearts in memory of Devin.
