August 5, 1931 – January 28, 2026
Mrs. Norma Niemi, age 94 years of Thunder Bay, passed away on Wednesday January 28, 2026 in Hospice at St. Joseph’s Hospital.
She was born in Glenavon Saskatchewan but grew up in Fort Frances after her family moved there. Norma married Roy White and together they lived in Stevens, Ontario and Manitouwadge. Sadly, Roy passed away unexpectedly in 1987, and she relocated to Thunder Bay in 1989. In 1999, she found love again and married Allan Niemi. Throughout her life, Norma was active with Christian Women and Women’s Aglow for many years. She also enjoyed teaching youth bible study and was involved with the Thunder Bay Living Well Healing Rooms as well as a small prayer group.
Norma is survived by her husband Allan; daughters Judy Mc Gee and family from Red Deer, Alberta; Debbie and son from Thunder Bay; Joanne White and family of Surrey, British Columbia; Tammy Natkinniemi and family from Calgary, Alberta; Cathy White of Calgary; stepdaughter Karen Wilson and family; three stepsons Grant Niemi (Darlene) and family; George Niemi; John Niemi (Eeva) and family all of Thunder Bay along with numerous nieces, nephews, and extended relatives.
She was predeceased by her son Douglas in 1959; grandson Christopher Mc Gee in 1972; brother Darrell Webb in 2004; sister Muriel Mc Fayden in 2009; brother Alan Webb in January 2016; sister Lois Thompson in February 2016 as well as her parents Neal Webb who passed away in 1971 and Lottie Webb who died in 1980 along with stepdaughter Trish Johnson in 2021.
The family expresses their gratitude to the nurses and doctors at St. Joseph’s Hospice including Dr. Mulligan for the loving care they provided to Norma. They also want to thank Everest Funeral Chapel for their kindness and professionalism.
Funeral Services will take place on Monday February 2, 2026 at 1:00 pm at the WESTFORT CHAPEL located at 420 West Gore Street at James with Pastor Jubin Abraham officiating. Interment will follow at Riverside Cemetery.
