Norma Alice Wynn passed away peacefully at Secord Trails Care Home in Ingersoll, ON on July 27, 2026. She was born on November 4, 1948, in Welland and later lived in Port Colborne before moving to Thunder Bay in 1976. Norma began her career in Education with the Niagara District School Board; she was one of the first educators to open a JK classroom at The Lakehead District School Board that same year. As an inspiring education leader, her roles included classroom teacher, Curriculum Coordinator, and Principal; she also taught many ministry qualification courses. A committed volunteer, Norma contributed to her community in various ways such as serving on the executive of the Lakehead Women Teachers’ Association and the Board of Directors for the Federation of Women Teachers Association of Ontario. She also volunteered at the Lutheran Community Care Home and held the position of President for the Thunder Bay Quilter’s Guild. Being a lifelong learner, she took great pride in earning her Master’s Degree from Brock University. Norma drew significant strength from her faith and dedicated many hours to her church as a choir member, Sunday School teacher, Board Chair, and board member for Concordia College in Edmonton. She will be greatly missed by her sister Gail Pilon, sister-in-law Sharon Wynn, nephew Rob (Lisa) Wynn, nieces Gillian (Enzo Riccio), Reanna (Mike Kearney), great-nephew Zack and great-niece Ally, along with chosen sister Heather and the Boast family. She was predeceased by her parents Edward and Ivy Wynn, brother Robert Wynn, and brother-in-law Larry Pilon. To many kids including friends’ children and some students alike, she was like a second mom. Her kindness and commitment to community knew no bounds. A Celebration of Life will take place on Saturday August 8th 2026 at 6:00 PM at Calvary Lutheran Church located at 2820 Donald St., Thunder Bay ON. A reception will follow at the church. Should you wish to do so, donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or any organization of your choice. https://www. heartandstroke. ca/donations Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Mc Beath-Dynes Chapel of Glendinning Funeral Home in Ingersoll.
