Leonard Felbel, a longtime resident of Southbridge Pinewood, passed away peacefully on January 20, 2026.
He was born in Silver Bay, Manitoba on July 4, 1929 to Hermann and Adeline Felbel.
Leonard found his soulmate Thelma Barrett at a dance in South Gillies. Their love story lasted for 51 wonderful years and brought forth four sons: Garry (Susan), Robert (Lynda), Richard (Sherry), and Glen (Branwen). He was also blessed with nine grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren.
In 1988, he retired from Great Lakes Paper after dedicating 32 years to the company. Leonard loved camping, fishing, hunting, watching NASCAR races, traveling, and tinkering around in his garage. However, nothing brought him more joy than spending time with his family. He is survived by his brother Ed
(Shirley) and sisters Ella Koch, Lillian Leslie, Wilma Reist (Dave), Helen Conlon (Tom), as well as sister-in-laws Judie Felbel and Loraine Felbel.
He was predeceased by his wife Thelma and three brothers: Gerhardt, Ernie, and Walter.
The service will be conducted by The Reverend Nancy Ringham. The family appreciates your support during this time.
The family extends their gratitude to the staff of Pinewood for their exceptional care of Dad.
A funeral service will take place at Sargent & Sons located at 21 North Court Street Thunder Bay on January 27, 2026 at 11:00 AM
