With heavy hearts, we share the heartbreaking news of Kayden’s passing on August 25th due to a car accident, at just 19 years old.
Kayden was born on April 29th, 2007. She started life as a joyful little girl and grew into a kind, patient, and beautiful young woman. Her greatest joys came from being with family, caring for her pets, and immersing herself in books. This love for reading sparked her passion for writing. She dreamed of becoming a famous author and even used an app on her phone to track her short stories, which gained feedback from many readers.
A huge fan of music from the ’90s and early 2000s, one of Kayden’s favorite memories is the mother-daughter trip to Winnipeg with her mom to see the Goo Goo Dolls-an unforgettable experience she held dear.
Working at Tim Hortons brought Kayden so much happiness. What began as a job in July 2023 turned into a meaningful connection with her community and customers. She enjoyed being recognized by regulars and developed strong bonds with her manager Cathy and friends Emily and Kira. You all made every day brighter for Kayden.
Kayden was excited about traveling the world. She saved up diligently for her own adventures and proudly joined her classmates on their Grade 11 trip to Europe. After graduating from St. Ignatius High School in 2025, she started attending Confederation College where she was heading into her second year of Business Marketing.
Though she wasn’t entirely sure about her career path yet, Kayden was eager to learn more about various professions. She often asked people questions like “So, what do you do? Do you enjoy it?” showing genuine curiosity about their experiences.
The impact of Kayden’s loss is profound; she leaves behind an irreplaceable void in the lives of everyone who knew and loved her. Mourning her are parents Sam and Adriana Arella; siblings Daniel, Markus, Anthony, and Ava; grandmothers Bonita Elizabeth Snow and Rita Arella; along with great-grandmother Adriana Giardino.
Her extended family includes aunts and uncles Fernando (Liza) Giardino, Adriana (Cosimo) Crupi, Danny (Laura) Arella, Dino (Lori) Arella as well as many cousins and close friends who will miss her deeply.
She was predeceased by grandfather Settimio Arella; great-grandfather Fernando Giardino; great-grandmother Gilda Fabiano; along with great-grandparents Johnena and Stanley Snow.
We would like to sincerely thank the Emergency Department staff at TBRHSC-especially Dr. George Mc Kay and Charge Nurse Melissa-as well as all first responders who cared for Kayden during those moments when we couldn’t be there with her.
A visitation for family and friends will take place on Monday, August 31st at Sargent & Son Funeral Chapel from 5-7 p. m. A celebration honoring Kayden’s brief but impactful life will occur on Wednesday, September 2nd starting at 1 p. m., also at Sargent & Son Chapel located at 21 N Court Street in Thunder Bay.
If you wish to honor Kayden’s memory further than flowers are suggested donations made instead to either the Thunder Bay Public Library or Paws for Love Thunder Bay.
