Jean Dunsmore Hooper
Jean Hooper passed away peacefully on November 20th, 2025, at the age of 88, surrounded by her children. She was the loving wife of George (who passed in 2013) and a wonderful mum to Kenneth (Julie) and Lorna. As a devoted grandma to Sean (who predeceased her in 2020), she was also preceded in death by her brothers Bob and Alec. Jean is fondly remembered by her “wee” sister Christine (Joe) and sister-in-law Louise Kilian (Jake). She will be missed by many nieces, nephews, and her great nephew. Born in Scotland as the oldest of four siblings, Jean married George and together they courageously immigrated to Canada in 1968. After some time back and forth between Canada and Scotland, they settled permanently in Cobden in 1977. There, Jean enjoyed a fulfilling life within her community. She had a passion for curling and was an active participant in the Cobden Civinette Club. Jean worked at Star-Set Jewelers in Eganville for many years-a job that brought her joy. Staying active through an exercise program was important to her, as was enjoying coffee and conversation with friends afterward. Her faith played a significant role in her life; she was a dedicated member of St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church congregation in Cobden. People will remember her warmth, kindness, and positive spirit that she shared with everyone around her. Friends may visit at Fraser-Morris & Heubner Funeral Home Cobden on Tuesday, November 25, 2025, from 3:00pm – 6:00pm. A service will take place at St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church in Cobden on Wednesday, November 26th at 11:00am followed by interment at Cobden Union Cemetery. Donations to St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church or the Cobden Food Bank would be appreciated instead of flowers.standrewspresb@gmail. comorhelins@nrtco. net
