May 20, 1940- March 7, 2026

With a heavy heart, we share that Janet (Jane) Ruth Brassard passed away on March 7, 2026 at the age of 85.

Born and raised in Thunder Bay on May 20, 1940, Jane was involved in various community activities. She participated in the Fort William Girls Pipe Band, sang with the Wesley Church Choir, contributed to the Wesley Collection, and was a member of #66 Royal Canadian Air Cadet Squadron. Jane enjoyed watching the Toronto Blue Jays and Pittsburgh Penguins play and kept up with the careers of NHL players from Thunder Bay.

She leaves behind her son David (Carole) from Winnipeg; her son John from Thunder Bay; and daughter Karen Mc Ilwain (Gregg) also from Thunder Bay. Her grandchildren and great grandchild will miss her dearly. Longtime friends Agnes Nistico and Margaret Looney will also feel her absence. She was preceded in death by her dear friend Jim Milne.

The family expresses their gratitude to the staff at Sister Leila Greco and Janzen’s Pharmacy for their exceptional care during her time there. Special thanks go out to the emergency department and ICU staff at Thunder Bay Regional Hospital for their kindness and support.

In line with her wishes, there will not be a funeral service. Friends who wish to honor her memory can make donations to the local Humane Society or Thunder Bay Regional Hospital in her name.

Condolences can be shared through www. nwfainc. com
