With sadness, we share the news of Carl Taylor’s peaceful passing at the age of 79 on February 12, 2026, at TBRHSC, surrounded by his family.
Carl was raised in Port Arthur and started his career at Abitibi when he was just 16. At 18, he joined the Provincial Papers mill, where he spent 40 years working hard and making a difference. He retired as the Superintendent of #6 Paper Machine and Off-Machine Coater, taking pride in his work and the friendships he built along the way.
In 1966, Carl married Jenny Prenger, the love of his life. They enjoyed 59 amazing years together filled with love, dedication, and family.
Carl had a passion for hockey and curling in his youth and spent countless hours coaching his kids in ringette and softball. As they grew up, he became a keen golfer and loved having regular coffee chats at Robin’s with “the crew.” After retiring, Carl would often say, “Leave the weekends and evenings on the golf course for those working people,” which showed how thoughtful he was.
<p. He will be greatly missed by his dear wife Jenny; daughters Kasey Etreni (Alf), Jodi Taylor (Dave), Tania Bouchard (Jay); and son Carl Taylor (Christine). His grandchildren were everything to him: Kayla (Jeff) and Brooklyn (Zavier) Etreni; Lily and Finn Taylor; Bryn Bouchard. He’ll also be fondly remembered by many nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members, close friends, as well as sisters-in-law Rita Perrier and Marge (Jim) Hurdon.
Carl was preceded in death by his brother Edwin; parents Claire and Edwin Taylor; parents-in-law Jenny and Herman Prenger; along with several brothers- and sisters-in-law.
As per Carl’s wishes, there will be no funeral service but cremation will take place. To honor him in your own way, please take a moment for quiet reflection. If you wish to make a contribution instead of sending flowers, donations can be made to either the Cancer Clinic or Cardiovascular Unit at TBRHSC.
